Hey I am looking to buy a new set if tires for my jeep.  Currently I am looking at bfg 33X10.5 or 33X12.5 at's.  Most of my driving is on the street and I do a lot of deerfoot traveling (work at airport live in Douglasdale)  The guys at modern and national are saying that the dick cepek all terrains are better than the bfg's.  How about procomp AT's Does anyone have experience with both tires?  Does anyone know where the cheepest place to get tires in calgary is?  These are going on my 95 yj.

Procomps are PROCRAP!!!  I would not waste your money; I have not heard one person that actually likes them, but bought them because they were cheap at the time.

I guess what is the bigger question, are you looking for a bigger tire is will be good on-road and you are willing to for go it off-road capabilities, or do you want something that will be good off-road and are willing to scarifice so on-road capabilities.

Honestly, the MTR is a very good tire and I have heard a lot of people getting very good life out of them, like 50-60K.  I have about 30K km on mine and there is still about 70% left, and that is 85% street, plus they handle well in the winter.  These tires are a little more expensive but very good offroad and have very good onroad handling

The only problem with the MTR is price.  I was quoted around 1200 bucks for a set of 4.  Otherwise they do look like a good tire.  How would they be on ice and snow at highway speeds?  I probably do need a tire that is good on road with not as great an offroad ability just due to the amount of miles I put on on the road vs off the road.  I think I went offroading 6 times this year. b I would really like to do more however with the wife and I working and two kids the schedule gets a bit crazey.

I had mine siped and I have never had a problem with ice or snow at highway speeds.  I know several guys from ECO in edmonton run MTRs in the winter and love them.

Having run 5 sets of the BFG AT KO's, I can't say a bad thing about them. While I now run MTR's and am really impressed with them, I wouldn't hesitate to buy my 6th set of the BFG's.

Swampers are not the most pavement friendly tire, especially the bias plys, plus they are crap on ice.

I second the use of MT/R's for snow/ice. At stock pressure (30-33psi) they were ok, but aired down, much better.

Any tire aired down will be LOTS better than at full pressure. But any AT should be a happy medium of pavement/snow/ice at regular pressure.

Sadly, there is no way to tell visually how good a tire will perform.

I believe it was about $250+ a tire from Fountain Tire when I was looking, $1400 mounted incl. tax for 5...I ended up with the much more reasonably priced $187 BFG Muds from Costco.

31" MTRs should be around the $220-230 mark just for the tire, plus mounting and balancing.

The Bridgestone Dueler Revo's are a really good A/T.  Very quiet on the high way and are awesome on ice.  I paid just under $900 for 4 installed at Country Tire for 31 10.5's.  Even if you're looking for a different tire Country seems to have the best prices I've found.

decent web survey for a lot of tires, but not many of the typical ones we see used and sold around here.  but useful if you buy at costco because they sell most of the top rated ones.

There is a small shop, Country Tire Service, I don't think they are affiliated with the warehouse.  They are on Westwinds Drive in the North East.  590-1521, ask for Kelly.  There is also a mechanic shop with a laser wheel alignment machine in the bay next to them.  From what I can remember, you can have the alignment checked, if it's good it's free, but only when you buy new tires.
