OK well I think I will go with this type of product for my rear.

its only $25. Im sure Modern Motors would have something like this. Or National. Im not sure what I am going to do for my front tow point.[/img]

Under the right conditions, wouldn't this produce a projectile?

Describe those conditions, I'm curious.  My method is as strong as the parts: pin, hitch and how its attached to the frame.  The strap loop strength is part of the strap strength.  Obviously your "shackle/mount" is still held to the hitch by that same pin.  My method may cause abrasion of the strap against the square receiver hole if pulled from an angle, I always tried to have the pull in a straight line and never had any issues with abrasion over the year+ that I used this method for tugging and being tugged.  Granted you can not hook a winch hook to the hitch using my method.

i bought a 10,000 pound all in one at princess auto for $20.  similar to that but instead of having to put a clamp in it, the end has a large O that I loop the strap into.   looks like this  =O

I think I'm in the right area....if some kind soul could pop this into Paint and drom some directions on it, it would certainly help our visual learners as opposed to spatial learners.  :)

Here's a Google Earth placemark to where you turn off Highway 66. You can't miss the store from here.
