Didn't know you did gears Bill. Since I now know I have a question or two. I recently had my gears on my Tacoma swapped. During the break in procedure (I did everything that everyone told me) the truck never went over 50 mph and I only locked it in on dirt, didn't wheel it at all, just locked it in on a dirt road to get some run time on the front end. Well at about 135 MILES the front end took a dump. Ultimate cause was deemed to be the outer pinion bearing. They said I broke them in improperly although I followed Rany's Ring and Pinion break in procedure the letter. They said that if it was bad setup both bearings would have gone. Any input good buddy? Thanks. Sorry for the hijack Tom, but you seemed done with this thread and I didn't want to start a new one about a Toyota on a Jeep board although I am in the market again. P.S. went from 410's tp 4.88's and everything was new, bearings, seals, gears, and what not.
