Blower motor stoped working
« on: November 12, 2007, 03:50:23 PM »
A small technical difficulty has started with my 2001 TJ.  The fan for the blower motor has quit.

It is not the fuse checked that its ok.

I have ordered a new switch, for the last year the high speed had quite working, the rest of the speeds may have quit.  Switch will be in the next few days. I hope that is the problem.

I understand that the blower motor also has a resistor that could be the problem or the motor it’s self. Has anyone had any experience with these items going or how to test them?

I hear the heater control circuits in TJ's is somewhat overloaded and tends to melt switches / wiring  . Is there not a fix ? that involves diodes to protect switches ?

ive changed lots of blower resistors with my vehicles

Older blowers can also keep blowing the resistors so then u have to change both.

u can risk just changing the resistor but if it blows then u just wasted $30

Had the same thing happen multiple time's and have replaced the switch every time fixes the problem for a while but the problem comes back  :!:

When the switch go's it melts the wiring in the harness you have to cut off the factory end and replace it with insulated female blade crimp conectors

Gimmie a call and I'll explain it better
TJ with some stuff

Thanks Steve. I will call once the part is in. I had not noticed that the harness was melted but will take a closer look. Thanks.

There was an article in a recent JP magazine about this , I believe they used a relay to fix the problem.
