Dos anyone fix or rebuild computers on the side. This thing is a Pentium 2, and needs updating. I went to update the anti virus a couple of months ago and the system was two old to do that. I want to up grad it. All I do is surf the net with it and a little word stuff.

i do but lately just been pretty busy.
a new computer can be $600 without monitor or $850 with monitor and build fee (approx).
honestly though, if the p2 lasted you this long (10+ years), go here and get this...

If all you want is something a little more modern than a PII computer ... I maybe able to hook you up. I think I have enough stuff laying around in the basement to put together something thats going to be at least a PIII. You're more than welcome to it ... just let me know and I'll see what I can dig up.

I hate to be the token Linux guy, but switching from Windows can make some serious performance difference in older hardware.
If you want to investigate Linux, let me know. I can give some pointers.

I guess I could be considered a pretty hard core unix user... I work with Linux & Solaris all day. As much as I love Linux I don't think I'd recommend it for someone who isn't very computer literate. You are right that it's a far superiour OS in many ways but for the avg guy who just wants his email and a browser its not the easiest solution IMHO.
