GEARS?
« on: June 17, 2009, 10:57:39 AM »
okay guys, im ordering my new axles here soon, and i have the choice of gears obviosuly. So im running 36x12.5x15 TSL/SX'S, so what do you figure i should use for gears. i was thinking 4.56:1 but maybe 4.88:1. Is anyone runnin those size tires with either of those gears? If so, what do you think? Thanks for your help!

It runs about 2700 RPM at 100KM 5th gear not great for milage but it pulls up hills realy well. Your 36" tires would run that gearing well.  It's not likley any jeep is going for a high top end.  ;)

Crap I hated 3:07 and 33", yours must be a beast to drive. Ever get out of 2nd gear? 3rd must be a rare treat.  ;D

another vote for 4.88's with 36's.  I've got 4.88's and have run both 35's and 37's... I can use 5th on the highway and my mileage is double digits again.

Well over the past year I haven't even used a full tank.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

When it is actually on the road I seem to recall the gas light coming on around 350Km or so.

Out of curiosity, how much are you paying for those axles?  What kind of lockers?  Chromoly axle shafts?

he quoted me at about 5 and a half grand, for two complete 44's, with any gear choice, the rear has a detroit, and the front has a detroit true trac, and yes chromoly shafts on both, with solid diff covers. and said if i pick them up and order them both at the same time hed work something out. how come?
