i am so fed up with dealerships

my jeep spent 3 days at VARSITY dodge  and i get a bill for 200bucks and nothing was fix
 my trany doesnt stay in 4th gear anymore and on there diagnosis sheet it says its an internal problem but because of my lift they wont warrenty it unless i pay the tear down fee and when there do the investigation then they will pay me back if its a warrenty issue .

i think its BS    if its internal then its warrenty there is no signs of damage on the tranmission housing .

does anyone have input on how to convince them to change it i have 13,000km left to my warrenty and it needs to be changed

who has a lifted jeep and has got warrenty work done and what kind
and what dealership is lift friendly im running only 4 inchs and 33's

please anyone with some info advice anything

Sounds like bunk to me. If you were running a supercharger, I could see them saying that it would void the warranty on your tranny - maybe.

As for convincing them? I'm probably the last guy you want to ask, because dealerships haven't done much of anything for me.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

That’s a bunch of BS the lift has nothing to do with the Transmission. If you are running bigger tiers then they might have a leg to stand on but the lift is not related to the trany.
Brink was telling me he had to take his best in once for engine warranty work and he tailored it because the street legal part left a long time ago.

You may want to PM Rob NUXJR or Eric HPS4EVR they both work at Dealerships.

I work at a dealership and have worked at Dodge/Jeep dealerships.
Essentially what they are saying is "if" its not under warranty once they open the transmission due to a drive angle issue or watever then you would be on ther hook for the diagnostic and the r&r time. Varsity isnt a great dealership. Try Big 4, they are pretty decent. And, one other thing you can do is get the customer care number for Dodge and open a ticket there so at least the DSM will see the file. Its up to them to prove its not a manufacturers defect, not the other way around. Dont get upset or be angry just explain the issue. Your best friend in warranty anywhere is the service advisor because its how he writes the order up that may determine some of the outcome.
What would i spend my money on if it wern't for JEEP's

I agree 100%.

When I owned my Jeeps I always took it to Varsity and have NEVER had a problem. I got to know a few people their pretty well  (including the service manager) and have always had any warranty work completed without any issues at all.

I did buy 3 new Jeeps their over 6-7 years and I'm sure that helped.

The last thing you want to do is squirt off the staff, you will quickly become an unofficial "problem customer" and will never get anything done for you without having to fight for it.

I always treated the staff with respect (and the odd box of donuts/coffee). On the few occasions they screwed up I didn't get mad and raise hell, after all, they did apologize and promptly fixed the problem.

did the problem start before or after the body lift was installed?

the body lift isnt the issues .. they did determain it was a interal problem but wont warrenty it

i tried my best explain to them that the drive shafts have nothing to do with the tranny since both drive shafts run into the trans case not the transmission
but VARSITY isnt budging for me what so ever

so i went to RENFREW and spoke with the asssistant manager and he looked over the work order and she is confused because they warrentied the dianossis but they wont warrenty the trans
so hes going to check to see if there black flaged me and the claim if not then he said he will order it up for me

how does one dealership say one thing and the other say another . i dont get it

The SM at Varsity is solid. He has done lots over the years to help out CJA guys including myself.
He is fair but its all in the approach.
i too have agreed to paying for teardown and diagnosis IF the problem is determined to be a cause of my modifications. i think that is FAIR.
Most times i agreed to that with a big smile, the repairs were fully covered.
i have also brought coffe, wine and other goodies to any dealership i have worked with.
For me, Varsity was awesome as was Tower.

But, i bet slaggin them online will do wonders for your relationship with them.lol.

Please give me a call 403-870-5718 ;).  Once I have a better understanding of the situation I can discuss possibilities with our driveline tech.  He is also a wheeling enthusiast & has help me a ton as well as my 'friends'.  If I can properly esplain the shitiation I'm sure he will have an idea about how to approach a possible fix 8).

Darcy,.. it is one of the rule of this forum not to slam ANY businesses on the public site. There is ways to say stuff w/o slamming businesses.

Someone can ask for help that way.

I don't think Jeff is slamming Varsity ... he didn't think it was fair what they did & I'm sure he's upset.  I'm also sure there is a explanation for their action.

Rob will point him in the right direction and Jeff will get some help.

We only bitch & Moan in the member's forum. ;)

No, what i am saying is that the approach is very instrumental in the final outcome.
i am sure if there is one side to a story, than there is also 'another' side to the story.

i think it is fair to agree to pay for diagnosis if it involves extra labor because of the mods we put on.
Lets say they tear down his jeep and have 2 hours into it and find out that the tranny is ok and that some other problem exists. Do you think that 2 hours should be covered by the dealer?
i do not.

Did the problem occur after a body lift was put in?
Most times the body lift can cause this problem to happen as has been discussed many time on many forums.
It is a super easy fix (extend the linkage on the shifter).

Now, if Var.  sity says we will 'dig' into the problem but it will cost you time and labor IF the problem is NOT the internals of the tranny. Why is that not fair?
Now if they get in there and the problem is the tranny, than it is covered.
Sounds fair to me.

As for slaggin? You are right, bad choice of wording. He was only complaining.

i will give you one more example of fairness. My jeep had an aftermarket skidplate and oil pan plate. i agreed to pay the 'extra' time it took the dealership to take off those plates to get at the perceived problem. Even when issue was warrantied, i paid some labor charges for removing and re installing my aftermarket skids. i do not expect Chrysler to pay for that.

As i read the original post, it appears that Varsity was offering to 'go in and find out what really was wrong (not what was written up as the perceived problem) and if it were true, they would warranty it.

Am i missing something?
