I am new to this Jeep Thing.  So excuse the stupid question, but why does everyone want these Taurus fan motors.
I am very confused dont we drive chryslers

It is an easy to find electric fan that pushes a lot of air and fits a Jeep radiator.  I think they are around $20 at picknpull.

Thanks John.  I did a bit of a search and found that they come on 90-95 Taurus', as well as some other Fords.  They are a Mark VIII.  I also found that once again the local Princess Auto doesn't have them, and one of the local salvage yards would charge about $150 for one.  Thats what they call fair market value.  A price that changes daily.  I guess I will have to hit the Princess's in Calgary next time I am up.

The fan took 5 minutes to find (and remove) from pick-n-pull.  $13 plus $3 core.  Only one Princess Auto near Mcnight and Barlow Tr.  You'll need to come to Cowtown.

Thanks John for the pics and the help.  A few final things.   What all do you need for the install.  Just the fan/motor with wiring.  Do you need a connection at the other end, or do you just slice it?  Are Pick-n-Pull the ones that charge to get in the yard?  Next time I am in Calgary I will have to hit both Princess &/or Pick-n-Pull.

So, for $13 + core you get a fan motor.  How much would they charge for the the motor/shroud/fan?

No, no....

The $13 plus $3 is for the WHOLE fan with motor shroud, wires as shown in the top picture from Pick-n-pull.

The motor (lower picture) is a $20 item from Princess auto.  You don't "need" one.  People are just picking them up because they are new and cheap.

Here's a link to the best write up and wiring diagram I've managed to come across.

http://www.tacomaterritory.com/~dickfoster/Pics/Taurus%20Fan%20Wiring.pdf

The pig tail on the PA fans dont match the ford one. You either need to splice it all with quick connects, or grab a for pig tail or two when you are at the wreckers.

In summery, you'll need for the above set up

Pick an pull assembly 17$
Spare motor from PA 20$ optional
Temp sending controller 35$ from mopac
A 3 way switch 20$ mopac
A 50 amp fusible link 15$ auto value
Some wire 10g minimum IMO 20$
A 50 amp relay for high speed 26$ starter relay will work.

So, basically 160 gets you a 2 speed electric, set up with a shut down override, and a spare motor. Maintenance after the inital investment is at most a 26$ relay.

Compared to the 240-280$ clutch fan assembly's that come stock, and blow up on a regular basis, its a pretty good investment.

Another option for controlling the fan is a variable speed controller.

The FK35 which includes all wiring and fuses, $110 USD + $30 shipping instead of the $96 shown above.
