2013 Jeep 101
« on: April 12, 2013, 11:17:44 AM »
The Calgary Jeep Association is pleased to announce the 6th annual Off-Road 101 Course

This is a one day, family friendly course that is open to anyone that will introduce participants to the basic skills that are necessary during an Off-Road adventure, as well as safe and environmentally friendly practices while on the trail.

Rough outline of the day:
The course will take place at the Mclean Creek off highway land use area.  We will be meeting at the Mclean Creek store from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. At 9am we'll start with introduction to off roading instruction, along with various beginner obstacles to get you acquainted with your jeeps capabilities. Around noon we'll have a short lunch break (you’re responsible to bring your own lunch as well as addition food and drinks the rest of the day).  Then we'll head out for a trail ride with CJA members providing instruction and support throughout the way.  Please note that this is an offroading activity and there is always the possibility that damage and scratches can occur to any vehicle.  The trail guides will do their best to prevent / minimize any potential damage to the vehicles, but the potential is always there.

The number of registrants will be limited to 30

Date: June 01, 2013

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  Please send a PM to:  specialk

Entry fee: Donation to the Calgary Jeep Association Trail Fund.

Hi.

Been waiting for this 101 course a long time. Got my first Jeep, a 1997 Jeep TJ in Oct12 and have been patiently waiting through the winter.
I don't want to miss this opportunity. Basically to ensure a spot I need to be there early the day off the course?

Also, is there a specific decent CB radio that you will recommend?

Can't wait

Since there will probably be more questions in the thread regarding this...

For CB Radios Cobra makes a decent brand. However a radio boiled down is only as good as the tuning job on the antenna. Do some research on how to properly ground your antenna and you will find that even an inexpensive radio can give you decent results :) The more expensive you go in radios you will find you get weather channels, a built in SWR meter (which usually arent as reliable as a proper meter) and funky backlight colors.. Save money on the extra features and put that towards your antenna setup. You will be happy you did!
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Who's running it this year? My girls gonna be doing the 101 in my Jeep. To keep her sane I'd love to jump in with someone else so she can avoid my "advice", if there's an extra seat available ;)

Haha, thats funny crap.

Will is a good dood on the trail Kev.

Hmm, if I could convince my GF to take the day off, I should get her to run this in the YJ.

Most HATE me on here, till I wheel with em hehe.

Tell her she won't be the only new girl, that'll be a selling point for sure. This one won't be the same as you met Bill ;)
